What we do
- Roof waterproofing — flat, low-pitch and pitched roofs, full systems and re-coats
- Roof leak repair — the leak traced first, then repaired
- Torch-on waterproofing — two-layer bituminous membrane, from R220/m²
- Damp proofing and rising damp — DPC injection and salt-retardant replastering
- French drains and drainage — sub-surface water moved away from the structure
- Shower and wet-room waterproofing — bonded membrane under the tile bed
- Balcony and deck waterproofing — trafficable membranes and corrected falls
- Basement and cellar tanking — cavity drain membrane and cementitious tanking
- Wall crack repair and façade sealing — the usual route for wind-driven rain
Where we work
The whole greater Cape Town metro, with no callout charge inside it. Four parts of the city have distinct enough building stock to have their own page — the Southern Suburbs, the Northern Suburbs, Somerset West and the Helderberg, and Blaauwberg and the West Coast. Everything else across the Atlantic Seaboard, City Bowl, South Peninsula and Cape Flats is covered as normal.
How we work
Every contractor in this city buys membrane from the same three or four manufacturers, and the material is about a fifth of what you pay. What actually decides whether your roof is dry in five years happens before anyone opens a roll.
- We inspect before we price. On site, on the roof, with a moisture meter — not from photographs.
- We tell you the cause, in writing. Where water is entering and why, before any system is proposed.
- We quote the specific system. Product, thickness, layer count, measured area, upstand heights, what is stripped and what is excluded.
- We tell you when it is not a waterproofing job. If you have a ventilation or a drainage problem, selling you a membrane would be dishonest and it would not work.
- Guarantees stated separately. Workmanship and materials, each with its own term on the quote.
Most failed waterproofing we are called to was correctly installed. It was applied to the wrong problem. That is the whole reason we inspect first.
What it costs
We publish indicative ranges instead of making you book an inspection to find out whether you can afford the work. Two-layer torch-on runs about R220–R380 per m². Rising damp treatment runs about R450–R850 per linear metre before replastering. A roof leak trace-and-repair callout is about R850–R1,900.

Comparing us against other waterproofing companies
Waterproofing is not a licensed trade in South Africa — there is no register you can check and no board that can strike anyone off. So rather than ask you to take our word for it, here is what to hold every quote against, ours included:
- Did they go up on the roof before naming a price?
- Does the quote name the product, thickness and number of layers?
- Is the existing system being stripped, or covered over?
- Are upstand heights and terminations specified?
- If the roof ponds, is fall correction included or ignored?
- Are the workmanship and material guarantees given as separate terms?
- Are the exclusions listed?
A quote that survives all seven is comparable to another one that does. A quote that does not is a number, and you cannot compare it to anything or hold anyone to it.

Common questions
Do you charge for a quote?
No. The inspection and the written quote are free anywhere in the greater Cape Town metro, including getting up on the roof. The only chargeable callout is a formal leak trace involving staged water testing, and we tell you before we come out if that is what your situation needs.
How much do waterproofing contractors charge in Cape Town?
Two-layer torch-on runs about R220–R380 per m². Rising damp treatment runs about R450–R850 per linear metre before replastering. A roof leak trace-and-repair callout is about R850–R1,900. Quotes for the same roof commonly vary by a factor of three, almost always because the firms are not quoting the same work rather than because one is overcharging.
How quickly can you come out?
Messages are answered the same working day and inspections are usually within a few working days. Active leaks during the winter rainfall take priority over routine quotes, so say so if water is coming in right now.
Do you do sectional title and body corporate work?
Yes, and a large share of what we do is scheme work — complex roofs, balcony refurbishments and façade sealing programmes. Those quotes are itemised by building and by element so trustees can compare them properly and table them at a members’ meeting.
Are waterproofing companies in Cape Town registered or licensed?
No. Waterproofing is not a licensed trade in South Africa. The closest thing to a real credential is manufacturer approved-applicator status, because that is what makes a material guarantee claimable. NHBRC and CIDB registration are sometimes quoted but neither certifies waterproofing competence.
What is the difference between a waterproofing contractor and a roofing contractor?
A roofing contractor builds and repairs the roof structure and covering — sheeting, tiles, battens, gutters. A waterproofing contractor installs the barrier that keeps water out, most often on flat and low-pitch concrete. On a Cape Town flat roof the two overlap heavily; on a pitched tiled roof they are different jobs and the wrong trade will sell you the wrong fix.
